What an awesome first day! We got to skip all the "getting to know you" activities and just have a little bit of fun. The goal for today was to form groups and complete some fun activities as we got a chance to talk and catch up about the summer. We began by working together to put a puzzle together...
Then we had to save Fred. The groups worked together to put the life ring (peach ring) around Fred's neck (gummy worm) without touching either one! The paper clip taped to the bottom of the plates was the key!
Next was the tower challenge. Each group had 10 minutes to work together and see who could build the tallest tower using marshmallows and pasta.
Finally.... the toothpaste challenge. Each group had to empty a tube of toothpaste and then try to get it back in the tube, which is impossible! This was used as a transition into today's story, My Mouth is a Volcano, by Julia Cook. We discussed that once things come out of your mouth, they can't go back in. We used this message to talk about our class values, which you can read more about in the flip book that your child brought home today.
